The City of Coeur d'Alene is hiring for the Recreation Program Coordinator position with the Parks & Recreation department.
The Recreation Program Coordinator implements and coordinates youth and adult recreation programs, events, and activities. This position monitors and assists in the operation of multiple ongoing and seasonal outdoor and indoor programs. It requires thorough knowledge of playing rules and regulations of sports such as adult and youth basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, and football. The work schedule includes evening and weekends. The position is under the direct supervision of the Recreation Superintendent with leeway for independent judgment and initiative. The position directs seasonal and part-time employees. The position requires an Associate's Degree in recreation and a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. One year experience working in a public recreation program is preferred. CPR and First Aid certifications are required. The position works in a public building and outdoor environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions. This position has contact with the public under occasional stressful and emotional conditions.

- Methods, materials, tools, and standard practices of recreational building maintenance and set up;
- Rules and regulations for adult and youth basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, and football;
- Operation and maintenance of hand tools;
- Operation of personal computer and laptop and related software applications;
- Operation of specialized recreation equipment including, but not limited to, field groomers, line markers, scoreboards, and related equipment;
- Department policies and procedures;
- Customer service methods, techniques, and objectives;
- Basic math techniques and skills;
- Basic employee supervisory and training techniques and methods;
- Public sector, government, or related environment and operations, including general municipal management terminology, codes, acts, and regulations.
Skill and Ability to:
- Coordinate and implement an adult and youth recreation program;
- Perform maintenance on and lay out football, soccer, softball, baseball, and other outdoor recreation fields;
- Set up and operate equipment in indoor recreation buildings;
- Perform officiating and/or scorekeeper duties;
- Operate a motor vehicle;
- Operate specialized field preparation and grooming equipment;
- Operate and maintain hand and power tools and light equipment;
- Assist the public in a professional and courteous manner in stressful and emotional situations;
- Train and direct seasonal employees;
- Assist the public in a professional and courteous manner in stressful and emotional situations;
- Proficiently operate computers, software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar office software to create documents and other materials, maintain information, and generate reports;

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee works in a public building and outdoor setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and that includes exposure to power equipment and inclement weather.
