Duties

  • Plans, schedules, organizes and implements activities. Such activities include but are not limited to cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, trips, skeet shooting, parks, ranges, mountain climbing and overnight recreational trips.
  • Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment.
  • Coordinates with installation, county, and state officials on programs and information related to outdoor recreation and required licenses.

  • May assist in the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and 5- year plan.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and Special MWR events.
  • This position has an occasional driving requirement in support of the activity. Must be willing to obtain and maintain both a valid USAREUR driver's license and a TMP license.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  1. Experience OR a combination of experience and education that provided the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups.
  2. Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • Experience instructing rock climbing.
  • Experience in a combination of rock climbing, hiking, paddlesports, snowsports.
  • Professional certifications in a combination of rock climbing, hiking, paddlesports, snowsports.
  • Experience with the Rectrac Point of Sale system.
  • Experience maintaining ski/snowboard equipment (I.e. Base, Edge, Binding care).

Allowances and Differentials
  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), incentives and differentials will not be paid, with the exception of post allowance, contingent upon eligibility.
